![]() (Burgen as seen from the river Moselle) |
Nestled at the end of a wide valley fashioned by the Moselle in prehistoric time
Surrounded by the vineyards Kirchberg, Römerberg, Burgener Hasenläufer and the steep wooded slopes of the Hunsrück hills.
A rare mixture of unbounded nature and careful cultivation.

If you are a lover of wine, or of nature, interested in sport, on the trail of the Celts and Romans or on the hunt for photographic motives, this is the place to spend your holiday. In and around Burgen you will find a delightful countryside and there's lots to see and do within easy reach.
Or perhaps you just want to spend a quiet weekend away from it all. No problem. Burgen's setting, devoid of through traffic, makes it one of the quietest villages on the Moselle.

All roads lead to Burgen since the Romans built a fort here on celtic ground, but none of them go anywhere else. Burgen has no through traffic whatsoever. Where else can the children and adults skate undisturb on the main street?
Since Ryanair started using the airport at Hahn in the nearby Hunsrück hills, the central Moselle valley can be reached quickly and cheaply from central Scotland and the London area. A long weekend in Burgen is no longer an exotic dream but probably cheaper than a weekend in Blackpool!
And for our adventurous younger guests we organise a two week long summer event where you can enjoy yourselves under the careful eye of trained teachers and get to know our local kids.

The Moselle river is only a couple of miles from Burgen within easy walking distance. By bike it takes only about 20 Minutes. So we are right in the middle of the tourist region referred to as the Wine and Holiday area of the "Central Moselle Valley"..
You can get a good idea of the wonderful setting of Burgen by looking at our panorama below which was taken from the Vineyard "Kirchberg". The file is quite large so it will take about 60 seconds to load, but it is worth waiting for.
| You can control the viewpoint of the panorama with the cursor. Click somewhere in the middle of the panorama and hold the left mouse button down. If you move the mouse (still holding the left button down), the viewpoint will move in the direction you moved the mouse. The further you move the mouse from the point of click, the faster the viewpoint will move. |
